It was cold.. It was windy.. but it was still a perfect engagement session with Mango and Mike at Liberty State Park! I loved getting to meet this sweet couple and I’m so excited about the way their photos came out!
New Jersey Love Story
Mango and Mike met through a mutual friend almost 5 years ago. Mango was newly out of a relationship when her friend, Gale added Mango to a group chat with Mike. Mike and Mango chatted outside of the group chat for about a week before they went out on their first date. Their first date was at SEA Thai Restaurant. Mango said she still remembers Mike wore black pants with a red and black plaid shirt that day. Right after dinner, they went to watch the horror movie, “It Follows.” She is a huge supernatural/horror fan! The movie ended around 12 am and when they were leaving the theater, they noticed all of the workers had left for the night. The entire movie theater was just the two of them. The workers shut off all of the lights so they had to use their cell phones to look for a way out. Talk about a real life horror movie! To this day, they haven’t set foot back in that movie theatre again.
Mango and Mike describe themselves as homebodies and extreme foodies. Mango said that Mike likes to cook and she likes to eat so it’s the perfect pair! On their nights at home, they cook and play Call of Duty together.
Exchange Place Jersey City Proposal
Mango and Mike were both raised in the same Vietnamese-Chinese traditions and culture. Back in August 2020, Mike’s parents invited Mango’s parents over to dinner. They thought it was just going to be another regular family dinner! Right after dinner, Mike’s parents asked Mango’s parents for “her hand in marriage” for Mike! Moments later, they were happily discussing about their wedding plans! Mike didn’t officially pop the question until October 26th, 2020. They went out to Korean BBQ with Mike’s best friend and cousin then they all took a walk down Exchange Place and Mike got on his knee and proposed!
Liberty State Park Engagement
I met with Mango and Mike for their engagement session at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. It was the coldest and windiest day of the fall so far, but we were able to get beautiful photos! I love that they wore neutral colors – the colors looked great with both the nature and cityscape backgrounds!
