About The Liberty Hall Museum Wedding Venue

If you’re a history lover, you’ll adore the storied past of Liberty Hall Museum. It actually hosted its first wedding back in 1774, when John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, married his wife! Several years earlier, in 1772, Liberty Hall was constructed by New Jersey’s first elected governor (who also happened to be one of the original signers of the Constitution). Today, the museum strives to educate visitors on the lives and stories of those who have worked and lived at Liberty Hall Estate for the past 250 years.

What once began as a 14-room residence evolved into a 50-room Victorian mansion, and today, much of its history and vintage charm remain in its décor. Its 23 acres of exquisite grounds are impeccably landscaped and include a gorgeous English parterre garden and maze. It’s a venue that exudes history, beauty, and elegance and is perfect whether you’re a history lover or prefer to just appreciate the property’s natural beauty.

Details of the Grounds

Liberty Hall Museum has a variety of spaces for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. When you contact their events team, they’ll help you curate the perfect wedding to optimize beauty and functionality, creating your true dream wedding!

Their five event areas include the 1882 Carriage House (80 people), with rich wooden ceilings and a grand door that opens to reveal the beautiful grounds just outside. Right beside the Carriage House is an outdoor tent that can accommodate up to 150 guests. It’s their largest event space and one of the most popular because it keeps your guests safe from inclement weather or direct sun while letting you soak in the beauty of the surrounding grounds.

There is also the Wagon Shed, a cozy indoor space with room for up to 60, and the glass-enclosed porch, perfect for more intimate gatherings and micro-weddings of up to 24 people.

A wedding at Liberty Hall Museum also includes access to a relaxing dressing area, perfect for preparing for your wedding day with your closest friends and family, in addition to several other spaces that could be perfect for a rehearsal dinner, welcome party, or farewell brunch.
