It’s been a long time coming, and we’re so excited that the day finally arrived! Mikaela + Chris had their Ninety Acres Wedding and we couldn’t be happier for this sweet couple!
The Love Story
Mikaela + Chris have been together for over four years now! They were first introduced to one another as co-workers at the same hospital. Even though they were not on the same shift, and working in separate departments, Chris would regularly visit the department “next door” where Mikaela was. Their relationship started with office small talk, and casually grew into an exchange of snapchat usernames and silly selfies! As they got to know each other better, they finally made plans to hang out. Although at the time, Mikaela thought this was a “friends” hangout, Chris had other intentions that he soon made clear. On their first date, Chris picked up Mikaela, and they went snowboarding at Camelback Mountain. Both showing their adventurous sides, this date was where their love story began!
Bride + Groom Getting Ready at Somerset Hills Hotel
The Bride + Groom both got ready for their big day at the Somerset Hills Hotel. We took so many detail shots of the entire floral invitation suite – envelopes included! This helps to add depth to the detail photos that we take, so we always encourage our couples to bring theirs! The wax seals on their invites was another great element for flat-lay shots. Mikaela had a dusty blue ring box, Badgley Mischka heels covered in gems, and a beautiful photo charm in honor of her late mother. Mikaela held a white bouquet with subtle pops of color and greenery cascading downwards. With loose stems (both florals and greenery) provided by the florist, we leveled up their detail shots! We highly recommend obtaining these from your florist if you can! Check out our post on other bridal day tips here!
The morning was quiet and peaceful, as Mikaela, her soon to be Mother-In-Law, and her Aunt assisted her with putting her final look together. The hotel room was beautiful and clean, with neutral/white furniture, and big windows. This allowed for plenty of natural light during getting ready photos – Something for all brides and grooms to consider when choosing their getting ready location!
Chris was also at the Somerset Hills Hotel, dressing in his dusty blue tie and royal blue suit. These colors edit beautifully in our bright and timeless style! Chris had a blue bottle of cologne that matched the rest of his blue details, with a custom tie clip bearing his initials. And we can’t forget about the blue socks, adorned with their dog, Moose’s face! Chris was joined by his dad and brother at the Somerset Hills Hotel.
First Look at Ninety Acres
We captured romantic portraits of Mikaela + Chris as he saw her for the first time on their wedding day! These first look photos at Ninety Acres were taken in front of the arch which was prepared for their outdoor ceremony. The excitement and joy on both of their faces when they saw each other for the first time was magical! We took bright, sunny portraits behind the venue, out front, and in the courtyard. Our couples LOVE doing a first look, and we cannot recommend this enough! The First Look lets you spend more time alone with your partner, and it lets us take even more portraits!
Husband + Wife Portraits at Peapack Estate
We had perfect golden light at sunset, and you know we took some glowy photos! In between the American ceremony and the Korean tea ceremony, we were able to take gorgeous portraits. Mikaela had a long cathedral length veil, perfect for swooping and super romantic shots!
Intimate Ninety Acres Wedding Ceremony at Country-side Manor
Mikaela + Chris held an intimate Ninety Acres wedding ceremony, with about 30 of their closest family members and friends. Mikaela + Chris were so happy, laughing throughout the ceremony and their vows. It didn’t take long for the tears to start flowing – Mikaela, their parents, and their aunts and uncles were all shedding tears of joy for the newlywed couple! After the American ceremony, there was a traditional Korean Tea Ceremony. The Korean Tea Ceremony, known as paebaek, is meant to show respect to the families and to welcome them. Family members shared words of wisdom for the couple, and they wore traditional Korean outfits, or hanbok. The table was decorated with various items which symbolize harmony and structure, good luck, and how many children the couple will have. A bouquet of lilies was placed in the front row to honor Mikaela’s mother.
Tented Reception at Ninety Acres Wedding
Mikaela + Chris held a tented Ninety Acres wedding reception. The tent had beautiful string lights running along the roof, creating a romantic ambiance. The dinner table was one long family style table! The table was covered in lush greenery and pretty flowers. Each place setting was customized for each guest, with activity books for the kids. They even had a custom cake topper – featuring their dog, Moose!
We are beyond honored to have been part of your special day! Congratulations, Mikaela + Chris! We wish you all the happiness in the world!
