NJ Beach Elopement – Tia and Brendan

2020 has not been the year any of us has imagined. Our 2020 couples have been thrown for a loop but if we’ve learned anything, it’s that love isn’t canceled! When Tia and Brendan had to make the difficult decision of postponing their wedding, they didn’t want to also postpone their marriage. So they got married and we planned an amazing New Jersey Beach Elopement at Pier Village!

The Love Story

Tia and Brendan met through a long line of mutual friends at The University of Scranton in 2015. They hit it off immediately but faced one challenge. Tia was living in Philadelphia, PA and Brendan in Ithaca, NY. They dated long distance for three years before Brendan finally made the jump to move to Philly. After one year of living together, Brendan proposed to Tia while walking on the beach in South Carolina.

Wedding Planning

Wedding planning was going so smoothly; Tia and Brendan were set to be married within 13 months of their engagement at The Gramercy in Hazlet NJ on May 16, 2020. Everything was falling into place!

In the beginning of March, they secretly met with a pastor and eloped. They did this so they wouldn’t have to worry about the logistics of getting married in a different state and so they didn’t have to worry about the paperwork on their wedding day. This was so secret that they didn’t tell anyone their plan!

A couple weeks later on March 14, 2020, exactly 60 days prior to their wedding, the country literally shut down. Weeks passed and there was no end in sight to the global pandemic. Tia and Brendan were faced with an extremely difficult decision. Two weeks prior to their original date, they called off their 200 person dream wedding.

It was gut-wrenching for them. But that didn’t stop them from saying their vows and celebrating on their original day with their parents and their siblings in their living room. Their ceremony wasn’t what they planned or what they were dreaming of, but they made the best of the situation and are now officially married!

NJ Beach Elopement

After I heard the news, we planned a beach elopement shoot in New Jersey. I couldn’t let this sweet couple go another year without wedding portraits to hang in their home! So Tia ordered and amazing dress, we had a beautiful bouquet made by Rosaspina Florals and we all met at sunset for the dreamiest beach session! It was so good seeing them because we have gotten super close ever since they chose us as their photographers!

Luckily Tia and Brendan were able to work with all of their other vendors to choose a new date in April 2021 for their big wedding! Fingers crossed the third time will be a charm!
