Palace at Somerset Park Wedding – Mango and Mike

Mango and Mike’s Wedding at the Palace at Somerset Park was like a fairy-tale that came to life! We had so much fun with this couple, and we cannot wait to share some of our favorite photos from their big day!

The Love Story

Mango first met Mike back in 2015 through a mutual friend. After agreeing to a first date, they went to dinner at SEA Thai Restaurant followed by a horror film at the movies. At the end of the movie, Mike and Mango realized they were completely alone in a dark building. Everyone had left! Totally spooked, they made their way to the exit using their phones as flashlights. They pledged that were NEVER going back to that theater again! Looking back, it’s funny to look at this as the first “vow” they made to each other!

In August 2020, after dating for some time. Mango and Mike’s families happily discussed them marrying. This approval from family was very important for both parties. On October 26, 2020, Mike surprised Mango with the easiest, but most important, question of her life! After having some delicious Korean BBQ for dinner in NYC, Mike took Mango for a romantic walk down Exchange Place. This is where he proposed to the love of his life! She had known for so long that he was the one, and she was so happy to say yes and start wedding planning. Mango likes to say that Mike proposed to her twice, and we love how unique this makes their love story!

Bride + Groom Prep in the Suites at Somerset Park Mansion

The bride arrived with glamorous details on her wedding day! Mango had a two piece invitation, a personalized velvet “The Mrs. Box” ring box, Badgley Mischka heels with gems on the straps, 3 rings; her engagement ring and both wedding bands, a beaded veil, and Gucci perfume. The florist, Rosaspina (who is also our florist!!) even provided tons of variety in loose stems, including unique roses and orchids! For any future brides reading this: loose stems are a huge plus and make for some pretty getting ready and detail shots! Make sure you talk to your florist about it; you won’t regret it!

Mike was with his closest friends and his dad on the morning of his wedding day. They enjoyed a relaxing morning with drinks together in the groom suite. He completed his look with Hugo Boss cologne, silver cuff links, and a bow tie! Mike and Mango both wrote touching letters to each other, which they read as they were getting ready.

Traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony

Mango was surrounded by her bridesmaids, flower girls, and mother as she finished her makeup and got into her first dress, called an Ao Dai. The dress was red, representing happiness, luck and prosperity. Mango and Mike had a special Vietnamese tea ceremony to celebrate the union of two families and to honor parents, families, and ancestors.

First Look in New Jersey Garden

In preparation for their American ceremony, Mango got into her white dress and walked over to the garden, where Mike was waiting for her. She walked up, he turned around, and WOW! We are always in favor of a first look for our couples. If this is something you are thinking about, check this out to see why we recommend it!

The Palace at Somerset Park is a gorgeous venue, and was the perfect backdrop for our first look portraits. The white mansion is a timeless and classic structure that enhances any image!

Romantic Husband + Wife Portraits at Somerset Park Mansion

Mango + Mike’s wedding portraits at the Palace at Somerset Park were incredible! We had a perfect sunny day, and we took full advantage of that golden hour sunlight! Our husband + wife portraits were glowy and gorgeous, and we took some epic wide shots with the whole reception venue! We even finished up all of our portraits before the ceremony!

Unplugged American Wedding Ceremony

Their close friend officiated the American Wedding Ceremony portion of their day. The rose petal covered aisle was beautiful! In addition to this, there were beautiful floral towers at the head of the aisle, with a personalized aisle runner etched with their wedding date and initials. The ceremony drew tons of joy and laughter from all of their guests! Mango and Mike reminisced the early days of their relationship as their said their vows, and finally, “I do!”

Elegant Wedding Reception at Somerset Park Ballroom

The ballroom at Somerset Park was decorated with alternating floral and greenery centerpieces, making for a timeless wedding reception. The grand staircase made for a grand entrance! The couple’s first dance as husband and wife was “on the clouds,” to John Legend’s song “All of me.” At night, we took more portraits, and the bride and from had a faux sparkler exit. Hint: the “faux” exit is for the bridal party only, so the party inside continues! The MOHs and Best Man talked about their friendships, and how important they are.

Congratulations to the newlyweds, Mango and Mike, on your wedding! We wish you all the love, success, and happiness in the world!
