Three Reasons to Consider a First Look

Today we’re talking about a very popular wedding topic.. You know, that thing that can be super taboo, but you don’t really know what it is or the benefits from having one. But by the time you’re done reading this, you will not only know what it is but you might be thinking you absolutely need it for your wedding! Here are 3 reasons why you should consider a First Look and why they are a must for your special day!

No. 1The emotions will make you melt

Okay.. you’ve probably been dreaming about walking down the aisle since you were young. Imagining the moment your future hubby (or wifey!) sees you for the very first time as you walk down the aisle. Every bride I ask hopes they will cry… I mean who wouldn’t want that!? It’s a lot of pressure if you ask me. But now multiply that pressure times 100+!! And not to mention all of those cell phones and cameras waiting to capture the reaction!

Now imagine the first time they see you and their reaction when it’s only the two of you. (Minus us of course, you’ll want us to capture these memories). This takes away all of the pressure! You both will be able to express your true emotions… Raw, true emotions. You know those tears you hoped they’d shed? You’ll probably get them during a private First Look 😉

No 2. Some alone time please!

Alright.. so now just take a moment to picture your wedding day timeline. Do you see any time alone with your new husband or wife? I can almost guarantee if you won’t be doing a first look, the answer is no. We know that the second you are officially pronounced married, your guests will rush for their chance to congratulate you. And that will last until at least your DJ gets the party going!

Your First Look will take place approximately 1-2 hours prior to your ceremony and this will give you plenty of time for some one on one time with your best friend. You’ll also be able to shake some of the nerves before you’re in front of a TON of people for your ceremony!

No 3. I mean, who DOESN’T love cocktail hour at weddings?

One of the biggest benefits to a first look is getting almost all of your portraits done before your ceremony even starts. This includes bride and groom, bridal party and sometimes even family formals! And that way during your cocktail hour all you need AT MOST is 15-20 minutes for family portraits. After that, you newlyweds are free to go enjoy the cocktail hour that you paid for! Serve up some extra scoops from the mashed potato bar!

Thanks so much for reading. We hope you got some clarity on what First Looks are and why they are super important for a stress free wedding day! If you’re still on the fence, scroll to see some beautiful first look photos and why you should consider a First Look
