About The Reserve at Perona Farms Wedding Venue

Perona Farms is a fourth and fifth-generation owned business with a rich history of hospitality. Many years ago, vaudeville performer Emily Perona purchased 260 acres of farmland and acquired 11 cows. She wanted to settle into the quiet lifestyle of a New Jersey dairy farmer. Soon, however, he found that additional income was needed, so with the help of his brother John, a famous restaurateur in Manhattan, he began to host boarders and guests who were looking for a country escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Perona Farms soon became a beloved popular retreat. Clientele could come stay for a weekend or just enjoy Emil’s wife’s delicious home cooking. Eventually, it became so famous that it transitioned into a restaurant known only as Perona Farms. Emil and his wife hosted famous guests like Ethel Merman, Groucho Marx, Betsy Von Furstenberg, and Jimmy Durante, among many others. In the decades that followed, Emil’s children and grandchildren continued to expand the business. Today, while it’s no longer a restaurant, it is one of Northern New Jersey’s premier event venues for gatherings and celebrations that live up to the legacy of Emil’s original dream.

Details of the Grounds

Perona Farms is home to three distinct venues, one of which is The Reserve.

Recently, The Reserve at Perona Farms added several private suites perfect for preparing for a wedding day. With features like bright natural light, mirrors, and comfortable furniture, they offer plenty of room for you, your partner, and your respective wedding parties to get ready for your ceremony. Plus, you’ll have a dedicated team member on hand to attend to your every need!

The most unique feature of The Reserve is the spectacular garden area, complete with a retractable roof. On beautiful days, the roof opens to let fresh air flood in and around your guests. In case of inclement weather (or in the midst of the winter), the ceiling’s transparent panels offer a bright garden feel with all the protection you need to stay warm and dry. At the far end of the garden space is a beautiful stone fireplace with a wooden mantle. This serves as the perfect backdrop for an intimate vow exchange.

For your reception, you and your guests will gather in the newly designed venue space. It features a design that is both elegant and rustic. Warm stone columns, rich hardwood floors, and dramatic arched windows add charm and character to the space. All while still being neutral enough to allow you to bring your own signature decorative touches to the room. A custom lighting system allows you to personalize the feel and color of your event from start to finish.

Photography Opportunities

The grounds of The Reserve at Perona Farms offer a wide variety of beautiful backdrops for your photos. Perona Lake offers views of serene blue water, surrounded by massive birch trees. A lovely wooden bridge crossing over the lake is the perfect spot for a first look. Should you decide to have one, of course. The historic barns offer a more bucolic aesthetic, and the gardens are absolutely beautiful in the spring, summer, and fall. Closer to the venue, contemporary landscaping and modern architectural features are great for sophisticated shots.
